Representative Project, Public History

On June 20, 2014, Kristen and Robert Autobee participated in the unveiling ceremony of two interpretive kiosks detailing the construction and history of the Eisenhower-Johnson Memorial Tunnel. The Autobees wrote the text and selected the images for the two kiosks as part of a project financed by the Colorado State Historic Fund. The mile-long tunnel through the Rocky Mountains is one of the engineering triumphs of Federal Interstate Highway System.  The kiosks are located at the Georgetown Visitors Center east of the tunnel and at the Dillon overlook west of the Continental Divide.
